Inspiration:

We intially had the idea for a symptom checker app, but we wanted to make it more interactive and user-friendly. The user would enter their age and click on 3D model of the human body to select the area of the body they are experiencing symptoms in. After choosing a group of symptoms the app would provide a list of possible diseases that the user may have based on the symptoms that they have entered. We wanted to make the app interactive and engaging for the user.

We didn’t have the resources to create a 3D model of the human body, then one of our friends suggested that we could do something like the popular game “Akinator” where the user answers a series of questions and the app guesses the character that the user is thinking of.

We thought that this was a great idea and decided to create a web app where instead of asking the user questions, the user would enter an initial symptom and the app would provide a group of other related symptoms the user keeps clicking on the symptoms that they are experiencing, the symptoms getting fewer and more specific each time until eventually there is only one possible condition left. The app would then provide information about the disease.

We didn’t have ideas for the name of the app, so we decided to call it Pocket Doctor for now.
